DUMBO Skinemax has nothing on “pinku eiga,” high-production, Japanese softcore films shot on 35mm. Unlike straight-up porn, Japanese censorship laws meant that these erotic indies, or “pink films,” had to be creative in their disguise of genitalia, which inspired much more complex films than your typical skin flick.
