Biblioball 2010: Spellbound

The Desk Set‘s fabulous Biblioball returns Saturday, Dec. 4 at The Bell House and we’re very excited to be the media sponsors of this fancy pants benefit. All proceeds from this magical gala filled with music, performance, dancing and glittery literati go to Literacy for Incarcerated Teens (LIT), and supports their programming for incarcerated and detained youth in NY.

Desk Set’s annual Biblioball, the nerdiest party of the year, attracts hundreds of New York City’s savviest librarians, authors, archivists and bibliophiles.

Among the many wonders you’ll experience at this year’s benefit:

Live musical performances curated by Tom Pavlich, (of the Great Pumpkin blog) and featuring Brooklyn’s Crazy Pills, Baltimore’s Raindeer, and some extra special wizardly guests…

Supercreator Jean Loscalzo will present Tableau Vivant: Living Picture trapeze/dance/video performance.

Librarians and other book nerds will perform in “Shush…tifying … Spectacle of Spectacles,” a library inspired riff on dance/theater performed & created by Joy Tomasko and members of the Desk Set.

DJs Marty McSorley, Megan Awesome, Shakey, Mikey Post, John XI, and Jimmy T. spinning 40’s, 50’s & 60s Soul, 70s Funk, Pre-Punk Psych, Juke-Joint, Bogooloo, and more. Be prepared to shake it.

Brooklynite MCs, Brownsville’s librarian, MC Official Burn and writer/musician Mike Flanagan will keep the party flowing.

The Fancy Pants Raffle is back and is going to be off the hook.

The Borough is my Library: A Greater Metropolitan Library Workers Zine, Issue 2 will make its debut!

So don’t dilly dally! Get a ticket today!
