Police have arrested 20 people for trying to enter an abandoned subway station that is known for its underground street art, The New York Times reports. Police have confronted subway art goers in plain clothes. The arrested were charged with criminal trespass and some others were caught with?graffiti?paraphernalia, officers said. “This is not an art gallery; this is completely illegal,” an officer said. Some artists call this area the Underbelly Project. Getting to the subway station — which The New York Times claims might be above an existing subway stop on the G line near South Fourth Street in Brooklyn — is dangerous to access, transit authorities said. “We have no intention of disturbing the works,” Deirdre Parker, a spokeswoman for New York City Transit said. “It’s in complete darkness and not really at all visible to anyone,” she said.
